Daniel Fausch studied architecture at ETH Zurich, where the design teaching of Professor Miroslav Šik had a particular influence on his architectural outlook. After graduating, he spent several years at Diener & Diener Architekten, working as an architect and project manager on complex residential developments, urban design studies and a number of successful competition entries. Subsequent positions at Morger Partner Architekten and Itten+Brechbühl further broadened his experience in the design, planning and management of complex building projects.

Daniel Fausch founded atelier fausch in 2020, driven by a desire to make architectural decisions independently and to develop projects from the first idea through to completion with a consistent approach.

His work begins with a careful reading of the site, its history and the particular needs and circumstances of each commission. He sees architecture not as an isolated object, but as part of an evolving spatial and cultural context. Existing structures, practical requirements and limited resources are not simply constraints. They can provide the impetus for ideas that give a project clarity and a distinctive form.

For Daniel Fausch, design is a process of careful consideration and refinement. Where the brief calls for it, different possibilities are tested deliberately until space, facade, construction and materials come together convincingly.

The aim is an architecture that is atmospheric and tangible, yet feels natural and self-evident. It is shaped by spatial quality, precise proportions and an enduring relationship between building, use and place. In the completed building, the design process should recede into the background, leaving an outcome that feels calm, clear and inevitable.
